AIIMS – All India Institute of Medical Sciences

AIIMS or All India Institute of Medical Sciences is not only a medical college but also a public medical research university in New Delhi. It was established in 1956 and comes directly under the administration of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. AIIMS main campus is located in New Delhi, where along with this several other institutes like Vardhaman Mahavir College, also in the vicinity lies National Medical Library, which can be accessed by researchers. AIIMS conducts AIIMS exam to admit students to its prestigious courses.

A vision of the first Prime Minister

AIIMS was Jawaharlal Nehru’s dream. He wanted a body, which would work for the people and help them in any way, he also wanted an autonomous body which would work in medical research and take India to places, since then there has been no looking back for AIIMS. In medical research, AIIMS always stays in lead with more than 600 research publication being published by its faculty in a year. AIIMS was established as an act of parliament, and the plans for establishing a body, which would totally dedicate itself to medical research, were already being made, since long before the independence of India.

Initially, the main campus of AIIMS was in and only in New Delhi. Later on, in 2014, budget speech, The Finance Minister Mr Arun Jaitley announced a budget of Rs. 500 crore for setting up new All India Institute of Medical Sciences, in Andra Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. After that, in his 2015 budget speech PM Mr Narendra Modi, announced the establishment of AIIMS in 5 more states, including Jammu & Kashmir, under the develop J&K plan.

The AIIMS Exam

Thousands of students apply for All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS exam)which offers around 807 seats. It offers an esteemed career. AIIMS entrance exam is one of the toughest and the esteemed examinations. The statistics clearly says that only about 0.35% of students who actually take the exam are able to clear it. The seats are very limited, and to crack the exam, you actually have to be in the top 0.34 %.

AIIMS exam 2018 application status is releasing on 20th April, it’s a national level examination, which is regulated by the same organization. It is conducted through CBT (computer-based test) in various cities. The admit card will be released on the 10th of May.

Application correction: 8th-2th March
Status of Registration including rejection: 21st March 2018
Application correction re-open: 16th – 18th April 2018
Final registration status: 20th April 2018
Admit card release: 10th May 2018
Exam date 26th & 27th May 2018
Result announcement: 18th June 2018
First round: 3rd, 04th, 05th, 06th July 2018
Second round: 2nd August 2018
Third round: 4th September 2018
Open counselling: 27th September 2018

Candidates need to successfully register themselves to get a hall ticket. Students have to download the admit card from the internet. AIIMS does not send admit cards by post.

• Method of the exam is CBT(Computer Based Test).
• Duration of the exam is three and a half hour.
• There will be a total of 200 question and will be of objective type, i.e., multiple
choice and reasoning.
• Students can choose to give the paper either in Hindi or English.
• Each right answer carries one mark
• Negative marking –   for every wrong answer 1/3 marks is penalised

Syllabus

The syllabus includes class 11th and 12th syllabus, students need to thoroughly go through everything and prepare themselves. The exam consists of Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, and General Knowledge. The marks distribution is already given.

TIPS

1. Thoroughly study every topic and every subject. There will be a lot of competition, and every student will try to give his/her best.

2. Mark difficulties, don’t be afraid to ask your doubts and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Speaking of having a doubt there and then will clear the subject more easily than going home reading of it and then asking. Also, there is no need to feel shy, the teacher is present to teach and if you have a doubt she would love, if you would ask, it means that you are physically and mentally present in the class.

3. Take a study break every 45-50 min. Study breaks are important, it makes you feel relaxed and rejuvenated.

People should make the schedule a little leniently, this will definitely help in following it, and be a little realistic about what they are going to follow each day.

AIIMS exam is tough and highly competitive, but in the end, it’s your preparation that matter, believe in yourself, have faith in the things you study don’t lie to yourself.
