History is the witness as to how education has changed the world or rather improved the world from time to time.

History of Education in India

In India, the earliest form of learning can be traced back to 1000 years when the different school of thoughts used to perpetuate their teachings through verbal communications. Then came the art of writing as a result of which hundreds of scriptures were written. This was the time when GURUKUL form of schooling became prevalent. Children were divided into four broad categories based on their interests and capabilities.

Later on, this practice was maligned by making this arrangement birth wise. India had some of the greatest universities in the world. To name some of them:-

Modern Education

With time the way of education changed with various foreign invasions to India. The modern education system was established by Britishers when India was colonized by them. Thomas Babington Macaulay strongly believed that the education in India should happen in English. He called for an educational system that would create a class of an anglicised Indians who would serve as cultural intermediaries between British and Indians.

Perhaps, history of the education in India was great but we could not carry the same to future and it degraded and deteriorated with time. We as a nation struggle to provide education to every single child out there.In fact, illiteracy cripples the entire system.
