Professional Life
How did you prepare for campus selection
I practiced a lot of Reasoning, English and Quant questions. I did this for more than 6 months. Also, I worked a bit on my spoken English. All this preparation helped me get an offer. In campus placements, companies hardly ask technical questions. So we should keep our focus on Reasoning, English and Quant questions.
Tell us about your experiences in your first organization
My first company was Infosys. It was a dream come true. I joined Infosys Mysore Campus as a trainee. Training days were one of the best. After the training, I got posted to Bangalore campus and worked there for another 4.5 years.
Can you tell us about Infosys training
Infosys training helps shape not only your career but character as well. You get to learn to handle things in pressure situations. I did my training in starting of 2011. Then we used to have a common training for all the students for 2-3 months. In this common training, we were taught subjects like C, PL/SQL, Core Java, Unix, Software Engineering, etc. Once you clear all the exams of common training you were promoted to Stream Training. I was given the Java stream. In this phase, we were taught about the different frameworks used in Java. Once the training is complete we were given postings to one of the development centers.
Can you talk about life after Infosys
I stayed in Infosys for a little too long. Because once you enter the organization you become awestruck. Everything is so well managed. Campus facilities are world-class. After working for around 4.5 years I decided to move on. I started focussing on my technical skills and then switched over to another organization(GreatWest). After GreatWest I worked with Lowe. For me, it is very important to understand the work, perform, deliver and then move on when the time permits. Because in our Industry the best way to survive is to keep yourself relevant. And the best way to remain relevant is by not staying stagnant. If you switch companies in justified timelines then you consistently get the chance to learn new technologies and experience.
What is the technology you are currently working on
Initially, I had worked on Java but then I moved on to C, Unix, and Perl.
One decision you regret
Once I got the offer from Infosys I lost my focus. I feel that I should have tried my luck in more companies.
Highlights of the Interview
