There is no lack of work in this field and the average payment rate is also good.
Any article which talks about specialised topics is called technical writing. Suppose you have expertise in the area of Information Technology. Then you can take the projects related to those skills and work on them. Before you start bidding for projects the biggest question is to decide the amount you are going to charge. This is a very critical part of the plan and should be done very strategically. On Upwork, we can search the jobs like the below screenshot and you will get an idea of the current charges.

I would suggest that you should start from a low charge and grab every opportunity that comes your way. Convert your first-time clients into regular loyal clients. Once you have some projects and clients under your belt you can start demanding a higher charge per word. People looking for quality work tend to pay more. Here are the steps:-

The larger question is how you would make your work appear different from others working in the same field. The only answer to this is research and innovate. This does not mean that you are expected to do things which have never been done before.
- A simple way to stand out is that your research should always empower your content. Your content should always be 10X better than your competitor. Use infographics, images and videos if required. Add quotes, sayings and statistics to support your theory. Never hesitate to link to authentic content.
- Another way is to keep a different approach to the way you write the content. Always try to keep an approach which can establish a connection with the reader. A simple written article with lots of good content and a little emotion is always liked and appreciated.
