JEE Main is one of the most prestigious examinations and opens the door to many good colleges. Hence every year, students wait with great eagerness for this examination.  The dates may vary depending upon the mode of examination such as offline (with pen and paper) or online mode. What is the eligibility criteria for the exam?

The basic eligibility to appear in JEE Main 2019 is high school qualification. This states that student must have passed 12th standard through a well-recognized board or equivalent to that. Along with this, we cannot ignore the subjects which are compulsory for a student to have passed in 12th class and those are Physics and Mathematics. The optional subjects may vary according to the interest of students. NIOS candidates are also welcomed to showcase their IQ. But, the scenario is quite different for diploma holders as they can sit in JEE Mains, whereas their rank will not be entertained in NITs or IITs. They can appear for JEE Advanced through their skills. If you are worried about the age factor, then you don’t need to worry as there is no age limit to appear in the examination.

What is the process to apply for the exam?

The filling of applications starts from 1st of September, 2018. If you want to appear in JEE Main 2019 can apply for it only through online mode. But, students can take the hard copy of acknowledgment for future use. Students must pay the fee for this before October 1st and fill up the application before 30th September 2018. If you want to be certain that you don’t make any mistake while filling the form, you should take the help of any family member or visit any nearby relevant institute.

The date for admit cards availability?

Once students are done filling their JEE Main application form, the next step is to download the admit cards for the exam. The admit card for JEE Main 2019 is available from 17th December 2018. Students can download their admit cards from the official website of JEE Main.

Institute participating in JEE Main?

Several prestigious institutes participate in the JEE Main. A combined total of 77 institutes will participate which includes:-

    • 23 IITs,
    • 31 NITs, and
    • 23 Centrally Funded Technical Institutions(CFTIs),

Apart from these several colleges in the states of  Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Orissa, Uttrakhand, Punjab will admit students through JEE Main examination 2019.

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions

Is it mandatory to appear in JEE Main to appear in JEE Advanced?

The candidates who want to appear in JEE Advanced 2019 have to pass JEE Main 2019 examination. They must have ranked in the list of top 2,24,000 students, which is inclusive of all the categories. Along with this, a competitor must pay attention to the category in which they are appearing as 27 percent of OBC-NCL, 15 percent SC, 7.5 percent ST would have the seats reserved for them. Whereas, 50. 5 percent of seats are open for all the categories. 5% horizontal reservation for the physically challenged candidates.

How many attempts are allowed in JEE Mains?

-You can appear for consecutive three years in JEE Mains. The first attempt is allowed when you are appearing in 12th boards and then other two attempts are allowed in consecutive years.
-JEE MAIN 2019 allows you to take two attempts in one academic year. This means students currently in the 12th standard would get total 6 chances.
-Even if you do not appear in any of the attempts in an academic year it will be considered as an attempt

Is it compulsory to take both the JEE Mains in 2019 (January and April)?

No, but the best of the two will be considered. So it is better if you appear in both January and April JEE Main.

Is JEE Mains 2019 offline available?

Paper-1 is computer-based only.
