What is MHT CET and who arranges it?

MHT CET or Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is organized by State Common Entrance Test cell maintained by the Government of Maharashtra. MHT CET is a state level entrance exam that allows students to join their favorite streams of Engineering and Medical. This is the Maharashtra state exam where students from all other states of India can take part. This is a prestigious exam that takes place once every year. Though the exam is held at the state level, the competition actually takes place at the national level. All the eligible students from different parts of the country can sit for the exam and that enhances the competitiveness of this exam a lot!

When the exam will take place?

Applications from all eligible students are expected and the process will start from the third week of January 2019. The last date of application will be 25th March 2019. Admit cards will be available on the DTE Maharashtra website and the dates will be informed to the students. Students need to download the admit card with the help of application number and password given at the end of filling of application form. The exam centers will be at all the headquarters of Maharashtra where students appeared in 10+2 exams.

Which streams are offered to the students after passing MHT CET?

The test is organized for two categories of students; first that are going to take admission in degree courses related to Health Sciences such as; MBBS, BAMS, BHMS, BDS, BOTh, BUMS, BPTh, BP&O, BASLP, BSC Nursing etc. The second category is for those opting degree courses in Engineering and Technology, Pharm D and Pharmacy. The test takes place somewhere in the month of May. So if you are aspiring for the next one, pull your socks up and try your level best.

Is this exam tougher than JEE Mains?

If you are aspiring for the JEE exam i.e. the Joint Entrance Examination, then MHT CET is not a big thing for you. Every year lots of students try their luck with JEE and much lower amount of students try for MHT CET. So the exam is expected to be a kind of less tough than the JEE one. So if you are preparing for JEE Mains, just keep your preparation level same and go through the syllabus of MHT CET. You will get to know which parts are common in the syllabus and can put pressure on that part only!

Check the eligibility criterion

You are going to appear for MHT CET, but are you eligible for the exam? You need to check the eligibility criteria of the exam. To appear for the test, you need to be an Indian citizen. The age limit is 17 years to appear for the UG courses. The student must possess 50% aggregate in 10+2 standard. The MBA and MCA aspirants must possess a 3 year Bachelor’s Degree with 50% aggregate in their Bachelors!

How many papers will be there in the exam?

There will be three papers and MCQ based questions will be asked. Paper one will bear Mathematics related questions. Paper two consists of questions from Physics and Chemistry when the third paper will bear questions from Botany and Zoology. All three papers bear equal importance and you have to be a pro in these three subjects to make your way through the test and grab a good position in one of the top-notch colleges in your region. The result of this exam will be declared within a month of the written exam.

How to apply for MHT CET?

The student needs to go to the official website of MHTCET and look for Registration tab. One needs to fill the details of Academic and Personal details at the place. After this is done, scanned copy of picture and signature should be uploaded. Back Challan should be downloaded and pay the amount in the nearest SBI in the next 48 hours. Once the status is updated on the website, the student needs to take a print out of it. One can pay the fees through online mode as well! Just go through the link and do as needful!

When the result will come out and how the counseling will be done?

The result of this prestigious exam comes out the first week of June every year. The result will be published on the official website of MHT CET. An online form will be available to the students according to their results and availability of the seats and Merit list. Now the counseling process will start and another Merit list will be up on the website and candidate will be allotted seats. Counseling process will include document verification, demand draft deposit, slot booking, and admission confirmation.

How to crack the exam?

Every exam needs a special sort of preparation. All the questions will be asked in MCQ pattern only. So you have to prepare yourself with this pattern. Besides this test, the aspirants have to pass the board exam as well. So they have to be well versed with both short and broad type answers. So, a different approach is needed for this particular exam. Once you make your mind for this test, you need to start practicing MCQs more and on holidays and weekends, you have to take out your notebook and start practicing MCQs more! This is the way of preparing yourself fully for the exam!

Practice previous year papers

Some students face problems with MCQs as they have a habit of skipping portions that they think are not important! In MCQ pattern syllabus, every portion from your syllabus is important and you have to give equal pressure to every bit of it. You can take out the previous year papers and start practicing. Solving previous year papers will give you an idea of which types of questions are going to come and how your preparation should be routed! Once you finish at least 10 years of previous questions, you will see that most of the syllabus of yours is already completed and you have to go through the rest of it. So this is a tried and trusted way of completing competitive syllabus.
